THROUGH THE YEARS
From the early beginnings to today

Brothers, Frank and Bert Neville set up business in 1926 to service the local communities in the Silverdale/Dairy Flat region. At that time they were very much standalone farming villages.
1926

The original company had been based at Silverdale, but during the 1950’s the bulk of the Silverdale land was resumed for highway construction and the company shifted to Dairy Flat, at the present site, which has expanded over the years.
1950's

Kelvin, the eldest of Frank Neville and his wife Rita's five children, started work there, with the three younger boys (Graham, Peter and Stewart) also joining the company over the next few years as the fleet grew to 8 vehicles.
1961

Frank and Bert agreed to split the operation up and conduct independent businesses.
Frank retained the Neville Brothers name and the freight and cream runs, while Bert called his operation Neville's Transport taking the stock contracts and equipment.
1965

Neville Brothers continued to expand as Frank's other sons came on board.
By 1972, when Frank retired from active driving at the age of 70, the fleet numbered around a dozen.
1972

With the business now being run by Kelvin, a decision was made in 2018 to sell the stock trucks, enabling the company to focus on metal cartage and establish the hiab business.
In 2001 Neville Brothers celebrated 75 years of business since their establishment in 1926.
2018

Managing Director Kelvin Neville (now aged 82 years) has notched up over 60 years in the business and is still working fulltime. Sons Ian and Allan coordinate and run the transport and hiab divisions respectively. With over 26 trucks in our fleet, Neville Bros continues to grow strongly in a competitive trucking industry.
